    “El Derecho Comparado está en boga”, afirmaba hace casi veinte años Ralf Michaels, con ocasión de la conferencia que tuvo lugar en Nueva Orleans el año 2000 para festejar el centenario del Primer Congreso Internacional de Derecho Comparado. Hoy, dos décadas después, lo mismo podría decirse de Chile: tal como atestigua la reciente creación de la Red Chilena de Derecho Comparado, finalmente, en nuestro país esta disciplina parece haber alcanzado un grado de densidad suficiente para comenzar a materializarse en forma institucional.

    “Comparative Law is en vogue”, claimed Ralf Michaels almost twenty years ago, referring to the conference that took place in New Orleans in 2000 to celebrate the centenary of the first International Congress of Comparative Law. Now, two decades later, the same can be said with regard to Chile: as evidenced by the recent creation of the Chilean Network of Comparative Law, in our country, Comparative Law as a discipline has finally achieved sufficient maturity and critical mass that it may now take on an organized and institutional form.
