Estudio de opinión de los alumnos del Grado en Medicina sobre las limitaciones éticas de la ciencia

    La formación para una actividad profesional abierta a la investigación, pero con compromiso ético, es una de las competencias genéricas que debe estimularse en los graduados en medicina. En consonancia con esta idea, en la V edición del Congreso Científico de Estudiantes de Fisiología de la Facultad de Medicina (2013/2014), se incorporó por primera vez una actividad enfocada a promover la reflexión acerca de los límites éticos de la ciencia. El éxito de la iniciativa llevó a incluir, desde entonces, conferencias, mesas redondas y encuestas de opinión sobre ética y ciencia. Tras cinco años de implantación de dicha actividad, en este trabajo se ha valorado la evolución de la opinión de los alumnos sobre la ética en biomedicina. Para ello se ha utilizado una encuesta que consta de 7 preguntas y se han comparado las respuestas de los alumnos del curso 2013/2014 con las del curso 2018/2019. La gran mayoría de los alumnos son conscientes de que deben regularse los límites éticos de la ciencia, aunque se muestran muy receptivos a los avances científicos. Sin embargo, en los últimos años ha cambiado la elección del sujeto regulador del desarrollo científico recayendo actualmente en un organismo gubernamental internacional. Como conclusión, debido a la gran aceleración del progreso científico, se considera que es importante seguir realizando actividades que contribuyan a la reflexión y argumentación crítica de las implicaciones éticas que tienen los avances biomédicos en los alumnos del Grado en Medicina.

    The training for an open to investigation professional activity, but with an ethic compromise, is one of the competences that has to be stimulated in medicine graduates.

    In agreement with this idea, in the V edition of the Students of Physiology from the Medical School Scientific Congress (2013/2014) it was included, for the first time, an activity focused on promoting the thought about the ethic limits of the science. The success of this initiative led to include, since then, conferences, round tables and opinion surveys in ethics and science. After five years since the implantation of this activity, in this work we have taken into account the evolution of the opinion of the students about ethic and biomedicine. For that, we have used a survey of seven questions and we have compared the responses of the students of the courses 2013/2014 and 2018/2019. The majority of the students are aware that the ethic limits of the science have to be regulated, although they are receptive to science advances. However, in the last years the election of the regulatory subject for the scientific development has changed, being nowadays the chosen one an international government organism. As a conclusion, due to the great acceleration of the scientific progress, it is important to continue to perform activities that help the though and critic argumentation of the ethical implications that the biomedicine advances have in students from Medical Degree.
