    Las Guardias Reales han sido objeto de estudio y admiración desde su creación, pero su imagen ha ido fluctuando en el tiempo. Centrándose más en su faceta cortesana que en su función militar, estos cuerpos han sido analizados intensamente por la historiografía social y dejados de lado por muchos investigadores militares. Por lo tanto, y a pesar de contar con excelentes estudios al respecto, profundizaremos en su visión castrense. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar los regimientos de GuardiasEspañolas y Valonas valiéndonos del estudio de caso, su intervención en la Guerra de la Cuádruple Alianza, su papel en batalla y el valor otorgado por sus mandos. A través de un análisis contrastado de fuentes documentales españolas y extranjeras, se destacará su significado como unidad de élite del ejército español durante el reinado de Felipe V.

    The Royal Guards have been the object of study and admiration since their creation, but whose image has fluctuated over time. Focusing on their court side rather than on their military function, these units have been intensely analyzed by social historiography and left aside by many military researchers. Therefore, and despite having excellent studies in this regard, we will delve into his military vision.The object of this paper is to analyze the Spanish and Walloon GuardsRegiments trough a case study, their intervention in the War of the QuadrupleAlliance, their role in battle and the value given by their commanders. Through a contrasted analysis of spanish and foreign primary sources, their rol as an elite unit of the Spanish army during the reign of Felipe V will be highlighted.
