Resumen de "Cuerpos y funebria”. Algunas aproximaciones al tratamiento de los cuerpos en Tafí del Valle durante la primera mitad del segundo milenio de ocupación

  Se exponen algunos acercamientos al estudio del tratamiento que las sociedades prehispánicas más recientes de Tafí del Valle (provincia de Tucumán) le han dado a los cuerpos, tanto en vida como después de su muerte. Trabajamos sobre evidencias recuperadas en el marco de rescates arqueológicos realizados al norte y al oeste del Valle, otorgándole sentido a conjuntos de datos que suelen quedar en meros informes técnicos. Las investigaciones bioarqueológicas realizadas sobre doce individuos, con una adscripción temporal de la primera mitad del segundo milenio de la Era Cristiana (EC), nos permitieron identificar individuos adultos y subadultos de diferente sexo y rango etario. Por otro lado, una parte importante de ellos da cuenta de la implementación de prácticas culturales sobre el cuerpo en vida (modificaciones craneales) y postmortem. Ello será tratado en el contexto de este trabajo, a fin de evaluar y discutir algunos primeros aspectos de la concepción de los cuerpos de las sociedades nativas prehispánicas.

  In this paper we want to discuss the treatment that the most recent pre-Hispanic societies of Tafi del Valle (Tucumán) have given to human bodies, both in life and after death. We work on evidences recovered under archaeological rescue work carried out in the North and West of the Valley, giving scientific meaning to data sets which often remain compiled in mere technical reports. We have conducted bioarchaeological investigations on twelve individuals who date back to the first half of the second millennium of the Christian era, identifying adult and subadult individuals of different sex and age range. A significant number of them accounts for the implementation of cultural practices on the living body (cranial morphological modifications) and also, postmortem. This issue will be treated under the context of this work, to assess and discuss some aspects of the conception of human body by pre-Hispanic native societies –both in life and after death–, through the bioarchaeological research evidence recovered in the area under study.
