Arte y espacio: estructuración de los repertorios de arte rupestre en los cañadones “Yaten Guajen” y “El Lechuza” (Margen norte del río Santa Cruz, Patagonia, Argentina)

    El siguiente trabajo presenta un análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo del arte rupestre de los cañadones Yaten Guajen y El Lechuza, pertenecientes a la región Margen Norte del Río Santa Cruz. Para cumplir con este objetivo se desarrolló una metodología de re- levamiento distribucional diseñada para analizar la distribución del arte en escalas espaciales amplias. Los resultados obtenidos a partir de estos análisis proveen información sobre tendencias generales presentes en el arte rupestre de ambos cañadones en lo referente a su: a) distribución espacial, b) selección de emplazamientos, c) tipos de motivos y d) técnicas ejecución. Los resultados de estos análisis muestran la existencia de ciertos patrones en la construcción visual de las imágenes, que son visibles en los repertorios de tipos de motivos, en sus combinaciones, y en su relación con los tipos de topografía del soporte rocoso. Estos resultados se relacionan luego con la movilidad, comunicación visual y control social de la transmisión de dichos patrones entre los grupos cazadores-recolectores habitantes de la región

    This paper presents a qualitative and quantitative analysis of rock art located at the Yaten Guajen and El Lechuza canyons of the northern shore of the Santa Cruz river region (Santa Cruz, Argentina). With this aim, we have developed a distributional recording method designed to analyze the distribution of rock art in broad spatial scales. The results from these analyses provide information about general patterns present in the rock art of both canyons in terms of a) spatial distribution, b) type of bedrock topography selection, mortiftypes, and d) production techniques. Results of the analyses show the existence of certain patterns in the construction of visual images, which are visible in the motif types repertoires, in their combinations, and in their relationship to the types of bedrock topography. These results are further related to the mobility, visual communication and social control of the transmission of such patterns among the hunter-gatherer groups living in the region.
