En el siguiente trabajo se tratará de investigar qué papel tuvieron los gobernadores en la América portuguesa (Brasil) en el momento en el que perteneció a la Monarquía Hispánica (1580-1640). El cargo de gobernador general fue fundamental, ya que era el nexo entre Madrid/Lisboa y los territorios coloniales, debido a que era la persona encargada de conjugar las directrices políticas y las estrategias militares que emanaban del centro político, además de ocuparse de dirigir, matizar e incluso involucrarse en el proyecto reformista que se intentaba llevar a cabo. Por tanto, estamos hablando del principal agente imperial de la Monarquía en la América portuguesa.

In the following work we will investigate the role of governors in Portuguese America (Brazil) at the time when it belonged to the Hispanic Monarchy (1580-1640).
