    Esta investigación propone la aplicación de herramientas como la “Gerencia del valor” que consiste en calcular indicadores financieros permitiendo identificar la creación o la destrucción de valor en la empresa, y el desarrollo de estrategias que orienten a un mejor desempeño económico en las instituciones prestadoras de salud de tercer nivel de complejidad en la ciudad de Medellín, la metodología aplicada es de tipo documental, descriptivo y analítico. La información obtenida permitió concluir que este tipo de entidades generan valor en sus operaciones en la medida que implementen modelos rentables y eficientes en las prestaciones de servicios de salud, los resultados demostraron que se han sostenido en el tiempo con un EBITDA por debajo de lo esperado en el mercado, por lo que es preciso utilizar permanentemente el modelo de gerencia de valor para monitorear los resultados y garantizar la sostenibilidad financiera.

    This research proposes the application of tools such as “Value Management” which consists of the calculation of financial indicators allowing the identification of the creation or destruction of value in the company and the development of strategies that guide better economic performance in the lending institutions, third level complexity health system in the city of Medellin. The applied methodology is documentary, descriptive and analytical. The information obtained allowed to conclude that this type of entities generate value in their operations to the extent that they implement profitable and efficient models in the provision of health services, the results showed that they have been sustained over time with an EBITDA lower than expected in the market, for which the permanent use of the value management model is required to monitor results and implement effective actions
