  Resumen Los generadores de impulsos de rayos son equipos muy costosos que se emplean para comprobar el nivel básico de aislamiento de los elementos que operan en los sistemas eléctricos de potencia. El generador de impulsos del Centro de Investigaciones y Pruebas Electroenergéticas (CIPEL), fue fabricado en la antigua Alemania del Este, y al desaparecer el Campo Socialista quedó sin soporte ni opción de acceder a refacciones, por lo que, a los diez años de explotación, comenzó a tener averías recurrentes en los circuitos que comandaban su funcionamiento. Esto lo llevaron a la baja técnica. El objetivo de este trabajo fue devolver la funcionalidad de este equipo.Se comprobó la estabilidad de su operación, obteniéndose las formas de ondas establecidas para las pruebas de impulsos, también se obtuvo la relación del divisor de tensión y la relación entre la tensión pico de salida y la tensión r.m.s. de carga del generador.

  Abstract The lightning impulse generators are expensive equipments that are used to check the basic insulating level of the elements that operate in the electrical power systems. The impulse generator of the Center of Researches and Electric-energetical Tests was manufactured in the ancient East Germany, and when the Socialistic Field disappeared, left it without support neither option of repairing, because of this, at the age of ten years of exploitation, it began to have recurrent damages in the circuits that commanded its functioning. This took it to the technical drop. The objective of this work is giving back the functionality of this equipment. Its stability of operation was proved, obtaining the established wave shape for the lightning impulses tests. The voltage divider relation and relation between the outer pick voltage and the r.m.s. charge voltage were obtained also.
