    El Cabildo era el supremo organismo administrativo de la isla, que poseía competencias en todas las cuestiones políticas de gobierno, excepto en loconcerniente al ámbito militar y eclesiástico; con cuyas instituciones colaboraba sóloen algunos aspectos concretos.En las islas pertenecientes al Señorío de Canarias los primeros cabildos seinstituyeron en el siglo XV bajo las directrices emanadas de la legislación castellanay se mantuvieron vigentes hasta el siglo XIX.El cabildo de Lanzarote estaba compuesto por la justicia y el regimiento, cuyosmiembros eran elegidos por los señores entre la élite insular, a los que se añadía elsíndico personero general, de libre elección entre los vecinos. Esta corporación regíalos destinos de la población insular, con funciones que abarcaban el ámbito civil, lajusticia y administración local.     The Cabildo was the supreme administrative organism of the island, whichpossessed competences in all the political questions of government, except withregard to the military and ecclesiastical field; With whose institutions it collaboratedonly in some specific aspects.In the islands belonging to the Señorío de Canarias, the first councils wereestablished in the 15th century under the guidelines emanating from Castilianlegislation and remained in force until the 19th century.The council of Lanzarote was made up of the justice and the regiment, whosemembers were chosen by the lords from among the insular elite, to which was addedthe trustee general representative, of free choice among the residents. Thiscorporation governed the destinies of the insular population, with functions thatcovered the civil sphere, justice and local administration. It was a deliberative and executive institution, which was assisted by various administrative positions thatcontributed to the government of the island.
