Estilos de aprendizaje y preferencias de uso de Facebook de estudiantes universitarios

    Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre los estilos de aprendizaje y el uso de Facebook de estudiantes universitarios. Se realiza una investigación cuantitativa, no experimental, correlacional, de tipo transversal. Participan 316 alumnos (55% hombres y 45% mujeres) de quinto y séptimo semestre del Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora (ITSON). Su edad promedio es de 21 años. Los resultados muestran que los estilos de aprendizaje tienen relación con el uso de Facebook. Esto concuerda con la teoría de David Kolb, quien sitúa a los cuatro estilos de aprendizaje en un cuadrante donde distingue los estilos orientados a las personas de aquellos orientados a la tarea y la teoría. El estilo de aprendizaje acomodador presenta una relación positiva con el uso de Facebook, mientras que los estilos de aprendizaje convergente y asimilador presentan una relación negativa. Se concluye que es importante considerar el uso de Facebook en los diseños instruccionales atendiendo los estilos de aprendizaje convergente y asimilador

    The main objective of this research study is to examine the relationship between learning styles and the use of Facebook by university students. A quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, cross-sectional methodology is applied. A total of 316 fifth and seventh semester students (55% men and 45% women) from the Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora (ITSON) are surveyed. Their mean age is 21 years old. The results show that learning styles are linked to the use of Facebook. This is consistent with David Kolb’s theory, which places four learning styles in a quadrant that separates the styles focused on people from the styles focused on a task or theory. The accommodating learning style has a positive relationship with the use of Facebook, while the converging and assimilating learning styles have a negative relationship. It is concluded that it is important to assess the use of Facebook in instructional designs by taking into consideration the converging and assimilating learning styles.
