    El ensayo pretende investigar la presencia artística italiana en Arequipa, entre los siglos XIX y XX. Las obras y artistas procedentes de la península italiana han desempeñado un papel determinante en la reconstrucción de la ciudad y en la orientación del gusto de la élite local. Destacan, de modo particular, las obras de muchos arquitectos, como Martino Pietri, quien realiza la Iglesia de San Camilo, así como de Teófilo Fioretti, Giovanni Albertazzi y otros empeñados en la reconstrucción tras el terremoto del 1868. Entre las obras importadas de Italia hay que recordar, en cambio, el grupo del Apostolado del escultor Stefano Valle en la Catedral.

    The essay aims to investigate the Italian artistic presence in Arequipa, between the 19th and 20th centuries. Works and artists from the Italian peninsula have played a decisive role in the reconstruction of the city and the orientation of the taste of the local elite. The works of many architects such as Martino Pietri, who built the church of San Camillo, Teofilo Fioretti, Giovanni Albertazzi, and others engaged in reconstruction after the earthquake, emerge in a particular way. Among the works imported from Italy, it is necessary to remember the group of the Apostolate of the sculptor Stefano Valle in the Cathedral.
