    El proyecto Parque Centenario fue una propuesta formulada a comienzos del siglo XX por la oficina de Obras Públicas de la municipalidad de Río Cuarto con el fin de dotar a la ciudad de un espacio verde que contara con áreas deportivas y de recreación. Durante aquellos años la principal preocupación por parte del municipio era alcanzar la planificación y la construcción de una ciudad identificada con las corrientes arquitectónicas y los cambios producidos en las capitales europeas. La iniciativa del parque representaba, en cierto modo, la nueva organización y planeamiento por la que bregaba la oficina. No obstante, la propuesta no logró llevarse a cabo debido a que una serie de entidades deportivas pidieron la concesión de los terrenos que el Honorable Consejo Deliberante terminó por ceder. El trabajo tiene como objetivo general realizar algunos aportes en torno a la planificación y construcción de una ciudad del interior a comienzos del siglo XX, tomando como punto de partida el proyecto parque Centenario. Para ello se procedió al análisis de fuentes documentales pertenecientes al Departamento Ejecutivo, al Consejo Deliberante y a clubes deportivos de la localidad que arrojaron luz sobre la intervención del ámbito estatal y privado en la ciudad.

    The Parque Centenario project was a proposal formulated at the beginning of the 20th century by the Public Works office of the municipality of Río Cuarto in order to provide the city with a green space that would have sports and recreation areas. During those years, the main concern on the part of the municipality was to achieve the planning and construction of a city identified with the architectural trends and changes produced in European capitals. The park initiative represented, in a way, the new organization and planning that the office was striving for. However, the proposal could not be carried out because a series of sports entities requested the granting of the land that the Honorable Deliberative Council ended up giving up. The general objective of the work is to make some contributions regarding the planning and construction of an inland city at the beginning of the 20th century, taking the Centenario Park project as a starting point. To do this, we proceeded to analyze documentary sources belonging to the Executive Department, the Deliberative Council and local sports clubs that shed light on the intervention of the state and private spheres in the city.
