Resumen de El frigorífico Swift en el mercado interno de la ciudad de Rosario: problemas en la introducción de carnes (1925-1935)

  Nos proponemos abordar la instalación del frigorífico Swift en la ciudad de Rosario, con especial atención a uno de los problemas que tal suceso trajo aparejado: el abastecimiento de carnes en el mercado interno de la ciudad. La firma norteamericana intentó desde el primer momento copar el mercado rosarino con sus productos, generando distintos planteos al interior del Gobierno Municipal y en otros actores afectados, como la Sociedad Rural de Rosario y la Sociedad de Abastecedores. Esperamos dar cuenta del proceso relacionado a la reglamentación del comercio de carnes en la ciudad de Rosario y en ese camino comprender cuál fue el impacto político y económico de la instalación del frigorífico norteamericano en el municipio de Rosario y las problemáticas que planteó para los distintos sectores que intervinieron en la situación.

  We aim to address the installation of the Swift refrigerator in the city of Rosario, with special attention to one of the issues that such an event brought about: the supply of meat in the city's internal market. From the very first moment, the North American company tried to monopolize the Rosario market with its products, generating various discussions within the Municipal Government and among other affected stakeholders, such as the Rural Society of Rosario and the Supply Society. We hope to give an account of the process related to the regulation of the meat trade in the city of Rosario and, in doing so, to understand the political and economic impact of the installation of the American refrigeration plant in the municipality of Rosario and the challenges it posed for the different sectors involved in the situation.
