    El Eje Cafetero es frecuentemente considerado un Remanso de paz, sin embargo, la historia de violencia de la región desmitifica esta narrativa. Mediante el análisis estadístico de los repertorios paramilitares junto con un trabajo documental amplio, el artículo interpreta los hitos del paramilitarismo. Además, contribuye a desmontar la anterior narrativa y propone un modelo para interpretar la violencia en la región. Los grupos paramilitares, actores narcotraficantes y sectores económicos y políticos han confluido en un espacio donde lo legal e ilegal se imbrican y generan unas prácticas violentas que persisten en el territorio. En este contexto cobra importancia analizar algunas de las continuidades y mutaciones de prácticas paramilitares que persisten en estructuras del crimen organizado como La Cordillera. Tales prácticas han llegado a modificar los esquemas mentales de una sociedad que usufructúa la imagen de progreso en detrimento del reconocimiento de la violencia y de las relaciones que la sustentan.

    The Eje Cafetero is often considered a haven of peace; however, the history of violence in the region demystifies this narrative. Through statistical analysis of paramilitary repertoires together with extensive documentary work, the article interprets the milestones of paramilitarism. It also helps to dismantle the previous narrative and proposes a model for interpreting violence in the region. Paramilitary groups, drug traffickers, and economic and political sectors have converged in a space where the legal and illegal intertwine and generate violent practices that persist in the territory. In this context, it is important to analyze some of the continuities and mutations of paramilitary practices that persist in organized crime structures such as La Cordillera. Such practices have come to modify the mental schemes of a society that uses the image of progress to the detriment of the recognition of violence and the relationships that sustain it.
