Turismo y eventos deportivos en Santander: un análisis económico y social

    Los eventos deportivos aumentan el atractivo de la ciudad sede donde se celebran y tienen la capacidad de atraer un gran número de turistas, incrementando el gasto de los visitantes; de ahí el interés de los agentes públicos en atraerlos, tanto por su contribución actual como potencial, para el desarrollo turístico. Esta investigación da a conocer las consecuencias económicas y sociales que tienen las principales competiciones deportivas de carácter nacional e internacional para la ciudad de Santander, situando el año 2022 como marco temporal de análisis. En el estudio se utilizó una metodología participativa mediante entrevistas personales a los responsables de los eventos deportivos celebrados en la ciudad, tanto a los promotores como a los organismos públicos implicados. Los resultados del análisis DAFO realizado proporcionan un detallado conocimiento de los puntos fuertes y débiles que ofrece la celebración de eventos deportivos. Asimismo, los resultados del análisis coste-beneficio evidencian el impacto económico positivo que han supuesto las competiciones deportivas para la ciudad de Santander. La investigación ofrece una visión clara de la relevancia y el impacto que tienen los eventos deportivos para la ciudad y brinda a las administraciones públicas y promotores deportivos recomendaciones valiosas a futuro

    Sports events increase the attractiveness of the host city where they are held and have the capacity to attract a large number of tourists, increasing visitor spending; hence the interest of public agents in attracting them, both for their current and potential contribution to tourism development. This research study provides information on the economic and social consequences of the main national and international sporting competitions for the city of Santander, with the year 2022 as the timeframe for analysis. The study used a participatory methodology by means of personal interviews with those responsible for the sporting events held in the city, both the promoters and the public bodies involved. The results of the SWOT analysis provided a detailed knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of holding sporting events. Likewise, the results of the cost-benefit analysis show the positive economic impact that sporting competitions have had on the city of Santander. The research provides a clear view of the relevance and impact of sporting events for the city and provides public administrations and sport promoters valuable recommendations for the future.
