Zubiri distinguishes between reality-thing and meaning-thing, but their development in Sentient Intelligence enriches the idea of “meaning” from the logos which, by its dual apprehension and its differential actualization, splits what is apprehended in “its reality” and in what that reality “is” in the field of reality (“among” the other real things and “in function” of it), differentiating two moments: what “is” with respect to human reality and what “is” with respect to the cosmos or universe. There are two meanings: vital or personal and cosmic or universal. Although only the first is called meaning, we must consider that the real is more than what it is because of its content, for it has a “being” that entails its moment “for human reality” and its moment “for the universe”.
