Resumen de Investigando con palabras de lluvia.: Vivencias de campo entre los mixtecos de la Costa de Oaxaca

Las siguientes experiencias de campo, se llevaron a cabo en la Costa Chica de Oaxaca entre los años de 1990 y 2022, principalmente en el municipio de Santiago Pinotepa Nacional, con la finalidad de analizar a los seres sobrenaturales en la narrativa mixteca de dicha comunidad. Fue importante delimitar sus distintos campos de acción y sus vínculos con los hombres. Esta investigación etnográfica en lengua materna contribuyó a esclarecer la estructura del panteón mixteco y de manera más general; a participar en el debate sobre los seres sobrenaturales en Mesoamérica. Se hizo un recorrido en algunos de los poblados entrevistando a las personas. Recolectando entre la gente diversos relatos sobre la creación del mundo, las normas de conducta entre los hombres y su relación con la naturaleza, recogiendo entre ancianos de Pinotepa y del poblado de Jicaltepec (cercano a Pinotepa), informaciones muy valiosas acerca de los tiempos antiguos en la región. Una de las metas de esta investigación antropológica fue precisamente proporcionar nuevos materiales para estos temas, recopilando en lengua mixteca diversos relatos de hablantes y traducidos al español. Por lo anterior, se planteó un primer acercamiento al estudio de esta cosmovisión, utilizando datos confiables que se recogieron en campo.

The following field experiences were conducted in the Costa Chica region of Oaxaca between 1990 and 2022, mostly in the municipality of Pinotepa Nacional, with the aim of analyzing supernatural beings in the Mixtec narratives of that community. It was important to define their respective fields of action and their relations with human beings. This native-language ethnographic investigation helped to elucidate the structure of the Mixtec pantheon and, in a broader sense, to engage the wider topic of supernatural beings in Mesoamerica. We traveled through some communities interviewing people, collecting stories about the creation of the world, the rules for human’s behavior and their relationship with nature; gathering among the elders of Pinotepa and Jicaltepec (a village near Pinotepa) valuable information about the region’s yesteryear. One aim of this investigation was to provide new materials relating to these topics, by gathering various Mixtec-language stories and translating them to Spanish. This is, therefore, an early approach to the study of this worldview, through trustworthy data gathered on the field.
