Este artículo presenta un análisis sobre el proceso de transformación del término guerrilla como concepto sociopolítico en el contexto colombiano. Para ello, se ofrece un estudio de los desplazamientos semánticos del término y de los debates generados al respecto, en tres momentos. Primero, durante la formación del Estado colombiano cuando guerrilla fue utilizada, tanto de forma descriptiva (en tanto táctica militar), como de forma valorativa (en tanto cualidad de los combatientes). Segundo, a propósito de las confrontaciones partidistas de mediados del siglo XX. Y tercero, con el surgimiento de las guerrillas de izquierda a mediados de la década de 1960.

This article presents an analysis of the process of transforming the term guerrilla into a sociopolitical concept in the Colombian context. For this, a study of the semantic shifts of the term and the debates generated in this regard is offered, in three moments: First, during the formation of the Colombian State when guerrilla was used, both descriptively (as a military tactic), and in an evaluative way (as a quality of the combatants). Second, regarding the partisan confrontations of the mid-20th century. And third, with the rise of leftist guerrillas in the mid-1960s.
