  • Analogue modelling has successfully simulated the progressive development of duplex formation in sandpack with intercalation of glass microbeads, whose coefficient of internal friction is significantly lower then that of the sand. A strong decoupling took place along this mechanical heterogeneity, which in turn defines two structural levels with different style of deformation.
