  • “The Theatrical Register” of the New York Magazine provides a valuable picture of the audience, the repertory, and the acting and production standards of the late‐eighteenth‐century New York theatre. This study concentrates on the 1794–95 season at the John Street Theatre as recorded by the anonymous author of the “Register.”
