  • Resumen
    • The study of theatre in German‐speaking countries is too often confined to cursory glances at the work of Max Reinhardt, Bertolt Brecht, and Piscator, with some dabbling in Expressionism, and the Bauhaus theatre. However, a wealth of research material is yet to be uncovered and made available to English‐speaking students and scholars. It is time that some in‐depth work be done on various facets of the German theatre, the kind of work with which students of British and American theatre have been busy. Inherent in this article are general and specific suggestions which the researcher, Ph.D. candidate and advanced scholar alike, will find useful. Scholarship in the areas outlined below will provide significant contributions to the field.
