Ambientes sedimentarios y secuencias en la Fm. Higueruelas (Jurásico Superior) en la Cordillera Ibérica Septentrional

  • Facies analysis carried out in the Higueruelas Fm. (Tithonian, latest jurassic) in the northern Iberian Chain (Mezalocha, Aguilón and Fuendetodos outcrops), has resulted in the identification of 14 facies. These facies were deposited in a shallow carbonate rampo Mid ramp environments are represented by open platform, outer shoals and protected lagoori facies. Inner shoals and restricted lagoon facies are found in inner ramp environments. The Higueruelas Fm. corresponds to a single second-order sequence. Three third order sequences formed by a variable number of higher-order sequen ces are found. The equivalence between the number of sequen ces defined in the three studied outcrops suggests an allocyclic control.
