The subject of this research are wooden buildings in the landscape of Irati (Paraná, Brazil). Based on an epistemological approach derived from Phenomenology, it tries to interconnect Geography, Architecture, and Art when interpreting the Irati landscape in the beginning of the 20th century, as it is portrayed by the local artist Primo Araújo. Some categories for this kind of interpretation are relevant, as the question of perspective and chromatism as subjective aspects that are inherent to the artist’s liberty, and the compositional elements of landscape, triangulated by their factual nature from different sources (interviews, bibliography and photography). Thus, the study is not only a contribution to the Historical Geography of Irati, but also establishes an interpretative methodology for representations of landscape.

A temática desta investigação são as edificações em madeira da paisagem de Irati (Paraná, Brasil). Sua base epistemológica advém da Fenomenologia, procurando estabelecer conexões entre Geografia, Arquitetura e Arte. Busca-se interpretar a paisagem de Irati do início do século XX, retratada pelo artista local Primo Araújo. Algumas categorias auxiliam esse processo, como a da perspectiva e do cromatismo, aspectos subjetivos inerentes à liberdade artística, e a dos elementos que compõe a paisagem, estes por sua natureza factível, passíveis de triangulação com diferentes fontes (entrevista, bibliografia e fotografia). O estudo traz não apenas uma contribuição a Geografia Histórica de Irati, construindo também uma metodologia interpretativa de imagens de paisagens.
