  • Because John A. Broadus’ Lyman Beecher Lectures on Preaching were not published, students have treated his textbook on homiletics as the substance of his Yale lectures. In this essay, press reports of the lectures are compared to the 1870 and 1898 editions of A TREATISE ON THE PREPARATION AND DELIVERY OF SERMONS to determine whether the lectures are incorporated in Broadus’ textbook.
