    En este estudio tratamos de entender la controvertida referencia que realiza Francisco Suárez, SJ (1548-1617) al concepto de corpus mysticum, cuando lo aplica no ya para explicar la naturaleza social de la Iglesia sino, a su vez específica y diferenciadamente, para expresar el sentido propio de la unión social y política de los diversos cuerpos sociales y la fuente de la dimensión normativa y de la estructura constitucional que los configura. Para ello, en primer lugar, tratamos de liberar el acceso a la posible legitimidad del uso de este concepto para explicar la constitución de sujetos colectivos como son las sociedades políticas. En segundo lugar, estudiaremos qué sentido cobra lo “místico” en su teología espiritual y su significatividad e implicaciones para los cuerpos sociales. Y, en tercer lugar, veremos los elementos fundamentales que definen el hecho social y político y su sentido moral y jurídico desde el análisis de Suárez.

    In this study I try to understand the controversial reference made by Francisco Suárez, SJ (1548-1617) to the concept of corpus mysticum, when he applies it not only to explain the social nature of the Church but, in turn, specifically and distinctly, to express the proper sense of the social and political union of the various social bodies and the source of the normative dimension that configures them. To this end, firstly, I will try to free access to the possible legitimacy of the use of this concept to explain the constitution of collective subjects such as political societies. Secondly, I will study the meaning of the "mystical" in his spiritual theology and its significance and implications for social bodies. And, thirdly, I will look at the fundamental elements that define the social and political fact and its moral and juridical meaning from Suárez's analysis.
