    La Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos declaró responsable internacionalmente al Estado de Chile por violar derechos humanos fundamentales del sr. Vinicio Poblete Vilches, un adulto mayor, que no conto con la atención medica que requería en el Hospital Sotero del Rio, al cual ingreso en dos ocasiones. Al principio, por una insuficiencia respiratoria grave, y ya en la segunda ocasión con un cuadro complejo, debido a una intervención negligente realizada previamente en el mismo centro de atención médica. Donde finalmente fallece. El paso de Vinicio a través de la salud publica chilena fue desafiante para sus familiares, que batallaron contra un sistema de salud que había decidido no proveerle el respirador que necesitaba, porque ya en un primer ingreso, el paciente había agotado su oportunidad de gozar de uno, en donde, la información que se le administro a la familia era muy diferente a la que constaba en acta médica, o hasta incluso, se le negó al sr. Poblete Vilches la posibilidad de ser llevado a cuidados intensivos para ser monitoreado de cerca, ya que había una gran escasez de camas para ello.

    The Inter-American Court of Human Rights declared the State of Chile internationally responsible for violating the fundamental human rights of Mr. Vinicio Poblete Vilches, an elderly man, who did not receive the medical attention he required at the Sotero del Rio Hospital, to which he was admitted on two occasions. At first, for a serious respiratory insufficiency, and on the second occasion with a complex condition, due to a negligent intervention previously performed in the same medical care center. Where he finally died.Vinicio's passage through the Chilean public health system was challenging for his relatives, who battled against a health system that had decided not to provide him with the respirator he needed, because already in a first admission, the patient had exhausted his opportunity to enjoy one, where the information that was given to the family was very different from what was recorded in the medical record, or even denied Mr. Poblete Vilches the possibility of receiving a respirator.
