La influencia de Virgilio parece haber sido constante en la obra de Antonio de Nebrija. En este artículo se ofrece un análisis de algunos textos poéticos e historiográficos de Nebrija con el fin de mostrar que el humanista interpretó y recreó la Eneida de acuerdo con el virgilianismo político propio de la tradición hispana. Este análisis puede servir para relacionar dos títulos que cabe atribuirle a Nebrija: el de poeta áulico y el de cronista real. Así, el humanista español se presentará como uno de los principales intelectuales al servicio de los Reyes Católicos y de la propaganda de la Reconquista.

Virgil’s influence seems to have been constant in the work of Antonio de Nebrija. This article offers an analysis of some of Nebrija’s poetic and historiographical texts in order to show that the humanist interpreted and recreated the Aeneid in accordance with the political virgilianism typical of the Hispanic tradition. This analysis can serve to relate two titles that can be attributed to Nebrija: that of courtly poet and that of royal chronicler. Thus, the Spanish humanist will be presented as one of the main intellectuals at the service of the Catholic Monarchs and the propaganda of the Reconquest.
