La maloclusión clase II subdivisión 1 se puede corregir con diferentes tipos de tratamiento como: ortopedia, ortodoncia correctiva con extracciones, sin extracciones, y cirugía ortognática. Uno de los tratamientos son las extracciones de primeros premolares maxilares; este tratamiento consiste en corregir la maloc lusión a través de movimientos dentoalveolares .
El objetivo de esta revisión narrativa es analizar la evidencia científica disponible sobre los cambios del perfil facial por exodoncias de primeros premolares maxilares en la maloclusión Clase II subdivisió n 1 tratados con ortodoncia.
Se realizó una revisión narrativa por vía electrónica a través de los buscadores:
PubMed, Google académico, Springer y Cochrane Library, con términos como: maloclusión Clase II subdivisión 1, tratamiento, extracción primer prem olar, rostro. Cuando se realizan extracciones, ambos labios se retraen, presentado más disminución en la protrusión del labio superior, lo que da lugar a cambios en el perfil facial.

Class II subdivision 1 malocclusion can be corrected with different types of treatment such as: orthopedics, corrective orthodontics with extractions, without extractions, and orthognathic surgery. One of the treatments is the extraction of the fi rst maxillary premolars; This treatment consists of correcting the malocclusion through dentoalveolar movements. The objective of this narrative review is to analyze the available scientific evidence on changes in the facial profile due to extractions of m axillary first premolars in Class II subdivision 1 malocclusion treated with orthodontics. A narrative review was carried out electronically through the search engines: PubMed, Google Scholar, Springer and Cochrane Library, with terms such as: Class II sub division 1 malocclusion, treatment, first premolar extraction, face. When extractions are performed, both lips are retracted, presenting a further decrease in the protrusion of the upper lip, which gives rise to changes in the facial profile.
