    El objetivo general de la presente investigación fue describir la onomatopeya en el desarrollo de la conciencia fonológica.

    El método utilizado en este estudio se basó en un enfoque cuantitativo, utilizó una tipología documental - bibliográfica, para establecer un análisis del objeto de estudio con el propósito de describir el tema investigado .

    En la investigación, se utilizó la revisión documental como técnica para recopilar datos importantes que ayuden a enmarcar los hechos.

    El material abordado se conformó por tesis de grado, investigaciones científicas y trabajos arbitrados.

    Se concluye que, la onomatopeya es un recurso fonético que permite la imitación de sonido, desarrollando así en los niños la habilidad de reconocer y usar el sonido en el lengu aje hablado, por medio del libro, cuentos, imágenes, dibujos, discurso entre otros. De allí la importancia que los docentes contribuyan al fomento y uso de dicho recurso, para garantizar un aprendizaje significativo en el niño

    The general objective of this research was to describe onomatopoeia in the development of phonological awareness. The method used in this study was based on a quantitative approac h, using a documentary - bibliographic typology, to establish an analysis of the object of study with the purpose of describing the investigated topic. In the research, documentary review was used as a technique to collect important data to help frame the fa cts. The material addressed consisted of graduate theses, scientific research and refereed works. It is concluded that onomatopoeia is a phonetic resource that allows the imitation of sound, thus developing in children the ability to recognize and use soun d in spoken language, through books, stories, images, drawings, speech, among others.

    Hence the importance that teachers contribute to the promotion and use of this resource, to ensure meaningful learning in children
