    Sin la medicina forense, todo proceso investigativo sobre un delito de cualquier naturaleza carecería de fundamentos científicos que avalen un diagnóstico certero sobre las características propias del hecho en cuestión. La también llamada “medicina legal”, se caracteriza por su ardua labor en el peritaje, que involucra múltiples ramas de esta ciencia, desde el estudio de aspectos psicológicos hasta el estudio postmortem del cadáver. Para poder llevar a cabo este peritaje, se debe hacer uso de los mejores y más recientes recursos tanto técnicos como tecnológicos que el entorno disponga. Esto es especialmente cierto en la práctica del estudio de cadáveres y la llamada “necropsia”, donde el médico forense podrá apoyar sus conclusiones en la información aportada por imágenes diagnósticas.

    Without forensic medicine, any investigative process on a crime of any nature would lack scientific foundations that support an accurate diagnosis of the characteristics of the fact in question. The so-called “legal medicine” is characterized by its hard work in expert opinion, which involves multiple branches of this science, from the study of psychological aspects to the postmortem study of the corpse. To carry out this expertise, use must be made of the best and most recent technical and technological resources available. This is especially true in the practice of studying corpses and the so-called “necropsy”, where the forensic doctor can support his conclusions on the information provided by diagnostic images.
