This paper assesses for the first time the effectiveness of PRIA-MA (Intervention Program for Gender Violence Aggressors in Alternative Measures) through the study of the recidivism of convicted persons participating in it. The sample consists of a group of prisoners (n=101) the Alternative Measures and Penalties Management Service of the Alicante Penitentiary Centre. After two years of followup (2018-2020), once the intervention is completed, the results show a recidivism rate of 6.3%, generally for crimes of ill-treatment, but also an initial dropout figure of 21.8% of the convicts from the intervention, the latter obtaining a higher recidivism rate of 11.7%. The effectiveness of the intervention does not seem to be reduced by the presence of a criminal record or by the high initial dropout rate from treatment. On this basis, PRIA-MA is positively evaluated as a tool for intervention with offenders in an alternative setting to prison, although it is necessary to make improvements in adherence to the programme and motivation to change as a way of reducing dropout, thus ensuring that a greater number of offenders receive the treatment proposed by this programme.
