This paper investigates the interest of pre-service science teachers in the Amazon region in differentsocio-scientific issues and their relationship with socio-economic level, gender and education received. Bymeans of a questionnaire, 156 responses were obtained from students studying Bachelor of Science Educationbetween the fourth and seventh semesters on 14 different topics. The statistical analyzes show a relatively highaverage interest in all topics. In addition, socioeconomic level significantly affects interest in the controversiescaused by industrialization, the use of ICT, and the use of air conditioning. The analysis by gender showeda similar average interest between men and women, but women showed a significantly higher interest in theissues related to industrialization, the use of air conditioning and fast fashion. As for the education received,it correlates only with a weak value with the issue raised by the use of ICT. These results show that the individual context of future teachers influences their interest in socio-scientific issues and must be considered intheir training
