    Por medio de la investigación científica, el hombre ha logrado una construcción conceptual del mundo que es cada vez más amplia y profunda y por su intermedio el universo se torna cada vez más predictible y hasta cierto punto maleable, con ayuda de la tecnología apropiada. Semejante herramienta no debiera quedar al margen del juzgamiento ético de sus logros y de sus métodos. Sin embargo, de acuerdo al particular entendimiento que cada quien tenga de lo que es “la ciencia” y cuáles son sus límites, es posible arribar a conclusiones que la escindan de juzgamientos éticos y responsabilidades por sus efectos. Contrariamente desde otra perspectiva epistemológica se torna evidente atribuir responsabilidades y compromisos a la ciencia en tanto creadora de realidades. En el texto se propone considerar la integridad ética del investigador como conjunto indisociable del hacer científico de un momento histórico determinado, trazando así un camino sobre el cual se puedan acordar responsabilidades subyacentes por los efectos, logros y fallos del hacer científico. Pero sin perder de vista que tanto la ciencia como la visión ética que la condiciona y juzga, son hijas de un mismo momento histórico, cuya única verdad indubitable es el permanente cambio.

    Man has achieved a conceptual construction of the world that is increasingly ample and profound through scientific research; this medium renders the universe more and more predictable and, to a certain point, malleable with the help of appropriate technology. Such a tool ought not to remain on the borderline of achievements and methods of ethical judgement. However, according to the particular understanding that each one has regarding what constitutes “science” and its limits, it is possible to arrive at conclusions that cleave to ethical judgements and responsibilities by their effects. Contrarily, from another epistemological perspective, it becomes evident that responsibilities and compromises are attributed to science while creating realities. This text proposes considering the ethical integrity of the researcher as an inseparable part of scientific activity at a determined historical time, thus creating a path upon which underlying responsibilities are attributed for the effects, achievements and flaws of scientific activity. All these, without losing sight that science as the ethical vision that conditions and judges, are offspring of the same historic moment whose only indubitable truth is the permanence of change.
