Resumen de Rap e identidade: Retratos de um Portugal plural ou excludente?

  This article analyzes rap music as a form of cultural expression that represents daily life and portraits ofa plural Portuguese society. It briefly addresses the emergence of hip hop in Portugal, the context andthe reasons that gave rise to it and justifies its practice nowadays. It seeks to identify cultural traits andidentity references that distinguish and characterize Portuguese rap, searching for evidences that contradicts and problematizes notions that foster the belief in a homogeneous, concerted and staticPortuguese national culture and identity. To this end, reference is made to the bibliography that addresses these subjects, presenting, as well, analysis of excerpts of song lyrics (content) and of the imagery used in some video clips, relating them to the current context and the everyday life experienced by minorities and “racialized” groups of people in Portugal.

  No presente artigo analisa-se a música rap como uma forma de expressão cultural que representa quotidianos e retratos de uma sociedade portuguesa plural. Aborda-se brevemente a emergência do hip hop em Portugal, o contexto e os motivos que lhe deram origem e que justificam a sua prática na atualidade. Procura-se identificar traços culturais e referências identitárias que distinguem e caracterizam o rap português, averiguando indícios que contrariam e problematizam noções que fomentam a crença numa cultura e identidade nacional portuguesa homogénea, concertada e estática.Para tal, recorre-se à bibliografia que aborde estes temas, assim como se analisam excertos de letras de algumas canções (conteúdo) e atende-se à imagética empregue em alguns videoclipes, relacionando-os com os contextos atuais e os quotidianos experienciados pelas minorias e grupo de pessoas “racializadas” em Portugal.
