    Durante la Edad Media se configuró un ritual que permitía el acceso a la clerecía. Este, que era presidido por el obispo, estaba integrado por la admonición que les dirigía a los postulantes y por los ritos de la vestición de la sobrepelliz, la tonsura de los cabellos y el rasurado de la barba. Este artículo propone una aproximación al imaginario del ritual de entrada en clericatura; para ello serán analizados documentos icónicos conceptuales y narrativos sobre el mismo, siguiendo los planteamientos de la metodología iconográfica-iconológica. Las imágenes se relacionarán, por una parte, con escritos de los Padres de la Iglesia y de liturgistas medievales para poder explicar el simbolismo que encerraban y, por otra, con las indicaciones que aportan las rúbricas del pontifical, para observar la vinculación que se estableció entre el lenguaje textual y el icónico.

    During the Middle Ages a ritual that allowed access to the clergy was shaped. This ritual was presided over by the bishop and consisted of the admonition addressed to the postulants together with the rites of the dressing of the surplice, the tonsure of their hair and the shaving of their beards. This article addresses the ritual of entry into priesthood. Iconic documents about that ritual, both conceptual and narrative, will be analyzed according to the iconographic-iconological approach. The scenes will be related, on the one hand, to writings of the Fathers of the Church and medieval liturgists in order to explain the symbolism contained in them and, on the other hand, to the indications provided by the rubrics of the pontifical, to observe the link that was established between the textual language and the iconic one.
