Conviver com HIV: Os sentimentos dos homens

    Introduction: Despite advances in health services in providing prevention technologies, the incidence of HIV in the Brazilian population continues to increase, especially in males. In view of this finding, it is possible to observe the difficulty that these people face in their daily lives in relation to treatment and support networks. Thus, this research started from the following question: “What are the experiences and meanings of being diagnosed and living with HIV and the implications for everyday life?” Objectives: To understand the feelings of men living with HIV. Method: Qualitative research, carried out through semi-structured interviews with 35 men who are monitored at a Specialized Assistance Service for HIV/AIDS in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The contents of the interviews were submitted to content analysis, in the thematic mode. Results: The analysis made it possible to emerge three themes related to feelings, namely, fear, guilt and loneliness. Conclusion: The serological condition brought the need to deal with different situations, and the reorganization of this phase leads to a change in the meaning of life. It was identified as a learned knowledge that HIV has no face, thus, the relaxation of protection measures are practices that should not occur, although they are neglected. Health education was considered a powerful strategy to expand knowledge for disease prevention and health promotion, especially with regard to the transmission of HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections. In this sense, the importance of bonding and welcoming health professionals was highlighted.

    Introdução: Apesar dos avanços nos serviços de saúde em disponibilizar tecnologias de prevenção, a incidência de HIV na população brasileira continua a aumentar principalmente no sexo masculino. Diante dessa constatação, observa-se a dificuldade que essas pessoas enfrentam no seu dia- a- dia em relação ao tratamento e às redes de apoio. Assim, essa pesquisa partiu da seguinte indagação: “Quais as vivências e os significados de ser diagnosticado e conviver com o HIV e as implicações na vida cotidiana?” Objetivos: Compreender os sentimentoso dos homens que convivem com HIV. Método: Pesquisa qualitativa, realizada por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturada com 35 homens que fazem acompanhamento em um Serviço de Assistência Especializada em HIV/Aids no interior do  do estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Os conteúdos das entrevistas foram submetidos a análise de conteúdo, na modalidade temática. Resultados: A análise possbilitou emergir três temas relacionados aos sentimentos, quais sejam, o medo, a culpa e a solidão. Conclusão: A condição sorológica trouxe a necessidade em lidar com diferentes situações, sendo que a reorganização dessa fase direciona para a mudança no sentido da vida. Identificou-se como um saber aprendido que o HIV não tem cara, assim, os relaxamentos de medidas de proteção são práticos que não devem ocorrer, embora sejam negligenciadas. A educação em saúde foi considerada como potente estratégia para ampliar os conhecimentos para prevenção de doenças e promoção da saúde, especialmente no que se refere à transmissão do HIV e outras Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis. Nesse sentido, destacou-se a importância do vínculo e acolhimento dos profissionais de saúde.
