    En este capítulo se analiza cómo y porqué se crean y reproducen los comunes temporales y duraderos, como parte de los entramados comunitarios de los Maya-Q’eqchi’ en el Valle del Polochic, Guatemala. Se muestra como la reproducción de los comunes MayaQ’eqchi’, ha sido y es la base de la resistencia ante la nueva oleada de despojo por la expansión de los monocultivos de caña de azúcar y palma aceitera propiedad de familias oligarcas descendientes de alemanes. Se analiza el común como una forma de lucha característica de los Maya-Q’eqchi’, desde sus múltiples diferencias de funcionamiento y estructura entre territorios habitados por Maya-Q’eqchi’ y también desde sus diferencias dentro del mismo territorio. Finalmente, se discute sobre los factores que han condicionado esas diferencias y cómo son reconfigurados por la historia y las dinámicas socioeconómicas y ambientales; así como por la estructura y funcionamiento que adquiere el propio común.

    The Maya-Q’eqchi’ are the people that occupy the most territory in Guatemala and that historically, like other indigenous peoples, have resisted multiple waves of dispossession through ‘communitarian weavings’. This chapter analyzes how and why temporary and longlasting ‘the commons’ are created and reproduced as part of the communitarian weavings of the MayaQ’eqchi’ in the Polochic Valley, Guatemala. It shows how the reproduction of the Maya-Q’eqchi’ commons has been, and still is today, the basis of resistance to the new wave of dispossession caused by the expansion of sugarcane and oil palm monocultures owned by oligarchic families of German descent. It analizes the commons as a form of struggle characteristic of the MayaQ’eqchi’, and explain the multiple differences of functioning and structure of the commons between territories inhabited by the Maya-Q’eqchi’, as well as within the same territory. Finally, It discusses about these differences and how they have been conditioned by the different identities reconfigured by history and by socio-economic and environmental dynamics, as well as by the structure and operation of the commons itself.
