    En este artículo analizamos el cementerio del Saucito de San Luis Potosí, México, con una perspectiva novedosa. Los trabajos dedicados a este lugar generalmente estudian la historia del sitio, así como la relevancia de los personajes ilustres que yacen aquí. Sin dejar de lado estos aportes, nos proponemos a discutir los procesos de apropiación contemporánea por parte de los habitantes de la ciudad de San Luis Potosí. Para lograr este propósito, asumiremos que tanto la traza urbana del cementerio, así como sus tumbas y monumentos se comunican mediante lo visual, por lo que, en primer lugar, presentamos la teoría de la imagen expuesta por Hans Belting, sus agenciamientos en la sociedad por parte de Alfred Gell y las consecuencias de su movilidad, vistas por Freedberg; en segundo lugar, acudimos al análisis del espacio público del reciento a través de la interpretación de Henri Lefebvre; y en tercer lugar, señalamos al espacio y la imagen como parte de la teoría general de la comunicación de Martín Serrano. En todo el desarrollo, la imagen fotográfica tiene un papel fundamental, pues forma parte de la argumentación para explicar los procesos que permiten que los vivos se sientan vinculados no sólo con sus antepasados (reales e imaginarios), sino también con el espacio que los alberga trasmutando la muerte individual en vida generacional.

    In this article we analyze the Saucito cemetery in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, with a new perspective. The works dedicated to this place have a historical focus, studying the history of the site, as well as the relevance of the illustrious people who lie here. Without leaving aside these contributions, we propose to discuss the processes of contemporary appropriation by the inhabitants of the city of San Luis Potosí. To achieve this purpose, we will assume that both the urban layout of the cemetery, as well as its tombs and monuments, are communicated through the visual, so; Firstly, we present the theory of the image presented by Hans Belting, its agency in society by Alfred Gell and the consequences of its mobility seen by Freedberg; As a second point, we analyze the public space of the venue through the interpretation of Henri Lefebvre; and in the third instance, we point to space and image as part of Martín Serrano’s general theory of communication. Throughout the development, the photographic image has a fundamental role, as it is part of the argument to explain the processes that allow the living to feel linked not only with their ancestors (real and imaginary) but also with the space that houses them, transmuting the individual death in generational life.
