  El Consejo Internacional de Museos (ICOM) aprobó en agosto de 2022 una definición de museo adecuada al siglo XXI. El nuevo redactado contó con un proceso que permitió participar a los profesionales del ámbito museístico. La definición vigente añade a sus funciones anteriores que deben ser espacios accesibles e inclusivos, fomentan la diversidad y la sostenibilidad, actúan con la participación de la comunidad y son espacios de reflexión e intercambio de conocimientos

  In August 2022, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) approved a new definition of museums for the 21st century. The new drafting involved a process that allowed museum professionals to participate. The current definition adds to their previous functions that they should be accessible and inclusive spaces, promote diversity and sustainability, act with the participation of the community and are spaces for reflection and exchange of knowledge
