Resumen de Desafios e métodos para estudar o patronato rural: A experiência no Núcleo de Pesquisa, Documentação e Referência sobre Movimentos Sociais e Políticas Públicas no Campo – CPDA/UFRRJ

This article addresses the difficulties involved in researching Brazilian rural patronage. It is based on the work done for the doctoral thesis Politics in the CNA: organization, mobilizations and insertions of rural employers in the state. The axis of the reflection involves the process of familiarization with the sources, the elaboration of new questions for the deepening of the proposed problem and the definition of the adopted methodology. Special emphasis is given to the period of investigation at the Centre for Research, Documentation and Reference on Social Movements and Public Policies in the Countryside (NMSPP), which consolidated itself as a reference in rural sociology studies after 2003. The center is linked to the research on social movements of the CPDA/UFRRJ. It enable access to interviews with leaders of organizations of rural entrepreneurs and material such as news clippings and bulletins produced by unions and social movements of peasants. These documents were central to the definition of study object of the thesis and to structure the stages of the research. The objective is to discuss the various uses of these materials, at different times, and expose the advances achieved.

Este artigo aborda as dificuldades que envolvem a pesquisa sobre o patronato rural brasileiro. Ele é baseado no trabalho realizado para a tese de doutorado A política na CNA: organização, mobilizações e inserções do patronato rural no Estado. O eixo da reflexão envolve a familiarização com as fontes, a elaboração de novas questões para o aprofundamento da problemática proposta e a definição da metodologia adotada. É dada ênfase especial ao período de investigação no Núcleo de Pesquisa, Documentação e Referência sobre Movimentos Sociais e Políticas Públicas no Campo (NMSPP), que se consolidou como um centro de documentação na área de estudos da sociologia rural depois de 2003. O espaço, ligado à linha de pesquisa movimentos sociais do CPDA/UFRRJ, possibilitou o acesso a entrevistas com lideranças de organizações de representação dos empresários rurais, a clipagens de notícias e a boletins produzidos por sindicatos e movimentos sociais dos trabalhadores rurais. Estes documentos foram centrais para a definição do objeto de estudo da tese e a estruturação de parte do trabalho de campo. O objetivo é discutir o uso e a reapropriação destes materiais, em diferentes fases, e expor os avanços alcançados.
