This essay deals with the relationship between the human person and tech-nology, specifically between contemporary humans and technology. In the first section, we will show the intrinsic characteristics that unite the human being with the transfor-mation of nature, mediated, in turn, by artifacts. In the second section, we will present a critical analysis of the ways in which Modernity has tried to explain, in our opinion unsatisfactorily, this phenomenon. The third section contains our proposal to reorder the person-technical relationship, based on a purpose hierarchy and the distinction between technical and technology. The findings are relevant to various contemporary technological uses.
