    El presente artículo ofrece un panorama general de la evolución de los movimientos y las protestas sociales en América Latina a partir de la década de los 90 ‘s. Desde el enfoque de la filosofía política y social, se ofrece un análisis de la manera en que estas movilizaciones de la sociedad civil participan y ayudan a la configuración del pluralismo político en la región. Lo anterior teniendo como marco histórico y político el proceso de democratización de la región, tras el largo periodo de dictaduras y violencia que caracterizaron la primera mitad del siglo XX y teniendo como telón de fondo el cambio geopolítico internacional de la desaparición de la confrontación entre el bloque soviético y el bloque occidental. Este artículo ayuda a la comprensión de la evolución de la democracia liberal en América Latina y el impacto que ha tenido el descrédito de la política partidista en los últimos 20 años, frente a la democracia en este espacio geo-histórico

    This article provides an overview of the evolution of social movements and protests in Latin America since the 1990s. From the approach of political and social philosophy, it offers an analysis of the way in which civil society mobilizations participate and help in the configuration of political pluralism in the region. This is done within the historical and political framework of the democratization process in the region, after the long period of dictatorships and violence that characterized the first half of the 20th century, and against the backdrop of the international geopolitical change resulting from the disappearance of the confronta-tion between the Soviet bloc and the Western bloc. This article helps to understand the evolution of liberal democracy in Latin America and the impact of the disrepute of partisan politics in the last 20 years on demo-cracy in this geo-historical space.
