    La evolución del concepto de familia y la generación de vínculos afectivos con animales no humanos con los que solemos convivir, hoy dan paso al reconocimiento jurídico de familias multiespecie. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar algunos avances y desafíos jurídicos surgidos a partir del progresivo reconocimiento de las familias multiespecie en el ámbito latinoamericano. Para ello, se reseñan algunos hitos importantes de reconocimiento de la familia multiespecie en la jurisprudencia así como en la legislación de países latinoamericanos. Luego, se revisan algunos desafíos pendientes en orden a dar un reconocimiento y protección jurídica efectiva a las familias multiespecie, tales como la descosificación de los animales no humanos y la necesidad de efectuar reformas en diversos ámbitos del Derecho.

    The evolution of the concept of family and the gene-ration of affective bonds with non-human animals with which we usually live, today give way to the legal recognition to the term of multispecies-family. The objective of this paper is to analyze some ad-vances and legal challenges arising from the pro-gressive recognition of multispecies-family in Latin America. It will look into the background of some important milestones that have been achieved in jurisprudence in regards to multispecies-family. As well as reviewing the Latin American countries le-gislations. It will look into the pending challenges in order to recognize effective legal protection to the multispecies-family concept. Also, it will point out the need for new reforms in different areas of Law such as de-objectification of animals.
