Resumen de As Inquirições Gerais ao serviço da centralização do poder régio: Baião nas inquirições de 1258

The political situatiom experienced in the first half of the 13th century, motivated by the royal government’s incapacity to stop a climate of anarchy, led to the strengthening of the nobility and rural nobility that usurped rights, heritage and their income from the crown. After the civil war of 1245-1248 and the definitive conquest of the Algarve in 1249, D. Afonso III assumed public administration as the main vector of this governing action, through the General Inquiries of 1258. In this study, we analyse their impact in the municipality of Baião, dominated by D. Pêro Ponces de Baião and other knights.

A situação política vivida na primeira metade do século XIII, motivada pela incapacidade da governação régia de estancar um clima de anarquia, levou ao fortalecimento da nobreza senhorial e rural que usurpou à coroa direitos, património e seus rendimentos. Depois da guerra civil de 1245- 1248 e da conquista definitiva do Algarve, em 1249, D. Afonso III assumiu a administração pública como o vector principal da sua acção governativa, através das Inquirições Gerais de 1258. Analisamos, neste estudo, o seu impacto no concelho de Baião, dominado por D. Pêro Ponces de Baião e outros cavaleiros.
