La aparición en San Marcial del Rubicón de un conjunto de monedas castellanas con una contramarca consistente en la letra B supone un hito en la moneda medieval de comienzos del siglo XV. De acuerdo con la documentación, Enrique III podría haber concedido a Jean de Béthencourt un poder monetario para favorecer su presencia en las Islas Canarias. La presencia de estas marcas en todas las monedas aparecidas en un contexto cronológicamente bien definido es compatible con un sistema de regulación del numerario en circulación.

The finding in San Marcial del Rubicón of a group of Castilian coins with a countermark consisting of the letter B represents a milestone in medieval currency at the beginning of the 15th century. According to the documentation, Henry III could have granted Jean de Béthencourt a monetary power to favor his presence in the Canary Islands.
