Resumen de Fragmented Identities and Sexual Repression: A Conceptual Metaphor Theory Approach to Lorca’s “Viaje a la luna”

Silvia Grassi

  • The article focuses on the analysis of metaphors employed by Federico García Lorca in his surrealist script Viaje a luna. My aim is to demonstrate that the script construes the metaphors “life is a journey, love is death and fear is sex”. I argue that an analysis of these metaphors helps us understand the meanings constructed around fragmented identities of the protagonists and, in particular, their gender roles and sexuality. In order to achieve this, I employ Conceptual Metaphor Theory.
