Este artículo surge del hallazgo del texto mecanografiado que Manuel Torres López, catedrático de Historia General del Derecho Español de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid hasta su jubilación en 1970, guardó en su biblioteca durante cuarenta años: la versión preliminar de la memoria y el programa que Luis Díez del Corral presentó en las oposiciones a la cátedra de Historia de las ideas y formas políticas que ganó en 1947. El artículo expone algunos de los argumentos centrales que defendió Díez del Corral en su memoria, ofreciendo antes una narración del proceso seguido en estas oposiciones, largas y rigurosas, que disputaron hasta el final tres candidatos.

This article results from the discovery of the typed text that Manuel Torres López, Professor of History of Spanish Law at the Complutense University Madrid until his retirement in 1970, kept in his library for forty years: the preliminary version of the academic report and the program which Luis Díez del Corral presented in 1947 to obtain the Chair of History of Political Ideas and Forms. The article sets out some of the central arguments made by Díez del Corral in his report after narrating the process of the rigorous and long-lasting examinations contested to the end by three candidates.
