    A partir de la revisión de un corpus de romances, recogidos recientemente de la tradición oral en una región del centro-norte de México, marco cuáles son las características generales de este género en el contexto del siglo XXI y las comparo con recopilaciones hechas hacia finales de los años setenta y en una encuesta que realicé en la misma región a finales del siglo XX. Qué romances están vigentes, cómo viven y cómo los estudiamos en el país.

    From the review of a corpus of romances (Spanish ballads) recently collected from the oral tradition in a region of north-central Mexico, I outline the general characteristics of this genre in the context of the 21st century and compare them with compilations made towards the end of the Seventies and in a field work that I conducted in the same region atthe end of the 20th century. What romances are current, how they live and how we study them in the country.
