Els «altres assaigs» de Jaume Serra Húnter: Inèdits catalans en la seva obra pòstuma

    Els «Altres assaigs» de Jaume Serra Húnter van aparèixer editats en traducció castellana al final del seu llibre pòstum El pensamiento y la vida: estímulos para filoso far de 1945, publicat a Mèxic. L’original en català, en canvi, tot i que també comptava amb uns «Altres estudis pòstums», no incorporava cinc d’aquests textos que van ro mandre exclusius de l’edició castellana. Una reedició digital bilingüe recent, publicada l’any 2020 per la UNAM, afegeix més confusió al separar aquests estudis pòstums en dos capítols diferenciats. D’on surten, doncs, aquests «Altres assaigs»? Pretenem primer contextualitzar l’aparició d’aquesta obra per poder formular una hipòtesi que reforça la necessitat urgent d’elaborar un catàleg i una classificació acurada de l’obra de Jaume Serra Húnter i deixar d’usar una terminologia equívoca o errònia. Després, dediquem la part principal del text a restituir a la seva llengua original aquests articles que només es coneixien fins ara en una traducció de Pere Matalonga

    Jaume Serra Húnter’s «Other Essays» were published in Spanish translation at the end of his posthumous book El pensamineto y la vida: estímulos para filosofar of 1945, published in Mexico. The Catalan original, on the other hand, although it also in-cluded «Other posthumous studies», did not include five of these texts, which remained exclusive to the Spanish edition. A recent bilingual digital reprint, published in 2020 by UNAM, adds further confusion by separating these posthumous studies into two distinct chapters. So where do these «Other Essays» come from? We first aim to contex-tualise the appearance of this work in order to formulate a hypothesis that reinforces the urgent need to draw up a catalogue and a precise classification of Jaume Serra Húnter’s work and to stop using misleading or erroneous terminology. We then devote the main part of the text to resituating in their original language these articles, which until now were only known in a translation by Pere Matalonga. | Keywords: Jaume Serra Húnter, Catalan philosophy, intellectual history, exile
