  Este articulo trata sobre el diagnóstico, tratamiento y manejo del paciente con aneurisma de la aorta abdominal, que es una patología en la que se produce la dilatación exponencial del diámetro de la misma, pudiendo romperse y provocar la inminente muerte del paciente que la padece, por lo general esta patología se presenta de forma asintomática, provocando sintomatología únicamente cuando esta se rompe. Los aneurismas aórtico-abdominales forman parte de las ¾ partes de los aneurismas aórticos, y afectan a un promedio del 0.5 y el 3.2% de la población mundial. La prevalencia es de 4 a 1 respectivamente en hombres y mujeres. Sin embargo las mujeres tienden a tener más probabilidad de ruptura y una tasa de dilatación mayor que la de los hombres.

  This article deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of the patient with abdominal aortic aneurysm, which is a pathology in which the exponential dilation of its diameter occurs, being able to rupture and cause the imminent death of the patient who suffers from it. In general, this pathology presents asymptomatically, causing symptoms only when it breaks. Abdominal aortic aneurysms are part of ¾ parts of aortic aneurysms, and affect an average of 0.5 and 3.2% of the world population. The prevalence is 4 to 1 respectively in men and women. However, women tend to be more likely to rupture and have a higher rate of dilation than men.
